Bittime - The price of TRUMP Coin experienced a sharp decline of up to 48% in the last few days. This fall was triggered by the surprising news that Melania Trump, Donald Trump's wife, launched her own memecoin with the name MELANIA.

MELANIA Coin Launch and Its Impact on TRUMP Coin

Melania Trump announced the launch of MELANIA Coin via social media Truth Social and X. In her upload, she included a link to the official website as well as the token contract address. 

As a result, MELANIA Coin immediately attracted market attention, even reaching a full valuation of $5.69 billion (around Rp. 92.8 trillion), according to DEXscreener data.

MELANIA Coin's token distribution mechanism is similar to TRUMP Coin. As much as 45% of the total supply is allocated for community, public distribution, and liquidity on decentralized exchanges.

The remaining 20% ​​is for project cash funds, while 35% is allocated to the development team. However, MELANIA Coin offers a shorter vesting (token holding) period, namely 13 months with a cliff of 30 days, compared to TRUMP Coin which is longer.

Concerns Behind the Differences in MILENIA's and TRUMP's Strategies

The launch of MELANIA Coin seems to be carried out with a different approach. Conor Grogan, Head of Business Product Operations at Coinbase, said that this token was created through a wallet previously connected to the Pump.fun platform. 

This is different from TRUMP Coin which was launched by a professional team with a multisig wallet.

Grogan said the launch of MELANIA Coin was more like a student project than a professional project. Criticism also came from Kevin McCordic, Director of Growth at Monad, who considered this step to be detrimental to TRUMP Coin. 

"They already had everything, but instead destroyed it with Melania's steps," he wrote in X.

TRUMP Coin is also ranked 18th on CoinMarketCap with a market capitalization of $9.8 billion (around IDR 160 trillion).
