Illegal Content on Telegram and Bigo Live
The Indonesian Minister of Communication and Information, Budi Arie Setiadi, stated that the main reason behind this plan was the inability of the two platforms to control illegal content, including online gambling and pornography.
Budi explained that the distribution of illegal content on Telegram and Bigo Live was a major concern. Not only related to online gambling, but also the spread of pornographic content which is disturbing the public.

Telegram and Bigo Live Failed to Fulfill Request
Both Telegram and Bigo Live are considered to have failed to comply with the Indonesian government's request to increase content moderation, despite several reminders.
