Ripple's small victory on January 11, 2025 came from a federal judge's decision to approve Ripple's application to seal certain documents. This step ensures that sensitive information is maintained during the legal process.

This decision is part of a series of important developments in this case. In October 2024, the SEC appealed its previous ruling stating that regular sales of XRP did not meet the criteria Howey Test. This appeal has caused XRP price volatility since mid-2023.

However, a change in leadership at the SEC, with Gary Gensler set to step down on January 20, 2025 and replaced by Paul Atkins, brings new hope to the crypto community.
