LINE X Kakao Collaboration Launches Kaia Mainnet to become Blockchain Layer 1
2024-08-29Bittime - LINE is collaborating with Kakao to launch a layer-1 blockchain. Minnet Kaia will be the Layer-1 blockchain born from the collaboration.
The launch of this blockchain is scheduled for August 29 US time. This brings a breath of fresh air to the Web3 ecosystem in the Asia region.
Kaia, Blockchain Result of Collaboration of LINE and Kakao
Kaia, which was introduced last April as a result of the merger between Kakao's Klaytn and LINE's Finschia, promises new breakthroughs in blockchain technology.
"Kaia's main network will be the world's fastest EVM blockchain with one-second finalization, ultra-low gas fees, and support from leading Web3 partners in Asia including Kakao and LINE NEXT," said a Kaia spokesperson in a press release.

This collaboration is not without reason. Kakao, with its messaging app, has reached 96% of South Koreans.
Meanwhile, LINE dominates the Japanese, Taiwanese and Thai markets. These two apps combined cover more than 250 million users, making Kaia a platform that has the potential to change the Web3 landscape in Asia.
Kaia is not just a new blockchain. The platform aims to address user experience and distribution challenges in a Web3 world through deep integration with messaging apps Kakao and LINE.
The long-term vision is to build an ecosystem that supports DeFi, gaming, real-world assets, and Web3-based messaging applications.
Kaia Adopts a Mini App Style Similar to Telegram
Interestingly, Kaia invites developers to create mini dApps (decentralized applications) on the LINE messaging platform through the NEXT WEB software development kit.
"We wanted to bring Telegram-style native app integration to our platform," explains the Kaia team.
By leveraging Kaia's low transaction latency, account abstraction, and fee delegation features, developers were able to create a seamless user experience while reaching hundreds of millions of LINE users across Asia.
To support developers, Kaia launched the Kaia Wave program alongside the launch of its main network.

Teams that qualify and use the NEXT WEB SDK will receive marketing, technology and business support worth $1.2 million (approximately IDR 18.48 billion) per team. Additional benefits include future token generation events and liquidity support.
Kaia Coin Listing on HashKey
Meanwhile, crypto exchange HashKey Global announced the listing of its new Layer-1 blockchain token, Kaia. Users will be able to trade these tokens starting this August 29.
The launch of Kaia marks a new chapter in the development of blockchain technology in Asia. With a large user base and support from key industry players, Kaia has the potential to be a catalyst in the mass adoption of Web3 technology in the region.
Industry observers and investors are now looking forward to how the platform will develop and influence the global crypto landscape in the coming months.
