Eclipse Mainnet Ready to Launch by End of October 2024

Bittime - Eclipse, a Layer 2 Ethereum solution that uses the Solana Virtual Machine to process transactions, is preparing to launch mainnet Eclipse at the end of October 2024.

Eclipse Mainnet Developer Now Open

Although the public launch of Eclipse mainnet will be at the end of October, Chetty revealed that Eclipse has already opened developer mainnet. 

This means that developers and builders can start working on this network, even though the UI or front-end is not yet fully active.  

Chetty said that Eclipse will integrate several existing blue chip applications on Solana, such as DEX Mango and Orca, as well as lending platform Solend.

Eclipse Mainnet: Combination of Ethereum, Solana, and Celestia

Mainnet Eclipse will be the first project to use Solana Virtual Machine to carry out transactions on Layer 2 Ethereum. 

The combination of Ethereum and Solana, as well as Celestia as a data repository, makes Eclipse a unique solution. 

The goal is to bring Web2-level scalability to the Web3 world, enabling blockchain networks that are faster, more efficient, and cheaper than traditional blockchain solutions.

Eclipse Mainnet: Overcoming Ethereum and Solana Limitations

Apart from bringing the advantages of various blockchains, the Eclipse mainnet is also designed to avoid some of the shortcomings of Ethereum and Solana. 

Ethereum is known for slow transaction throughput at Layer 1, while Solana has problems when it comes to decentralization. 

Eclipse seeks to solve this problem with a modular approach, leveraging the speed and efficiency of Solana while improving Ethereum's limitations.

Eclipse Mainnet: Overcoming Celestia Limitations

Additionally, one of the main problems that Layer 2 Ethereum solutions often face is high data storage costs. 

Many Layer 2 blockchains end up storing data off-chain to save costs. 

Eclipse mainnet tries to solve this problem by using Celestia as a data storage place, which allows cost savings while maintaining transaction security and efficiency.
