Telegram Games Grow in Popularity, Active Users Surges 20x!

Bittime - Popularity of Telegram games has soared recently. About 20% of Telegram's monthly active users play at least one game. This figure shows a 20-fold increase since December last year.  

Telegram Games are Getting More Popular

This rapid growth cannot be separated from the support of the gaming ecosystem built on The Open Network (TON) blockchain, which has attracted the attention of millions of new users to the world of Web3 via the Telegram platform.

Inal Kardan, head of the gaming division at the TON Foundation, revealed that around 20% of Telegram's monthly active users now play games, compared to only around 1% in December last year. 

Game Telegram like Notcoin and Hamster Kombat became the most popular game on Telegram. Notcoin has completed a $1 billion token airdrop, while Hamster Kombat claim has more than 300 million users and is planning to conduct the largest airdrop in crypto history. 

Telegram Games Monetization Model

Even though the popularity of Telegram games continues to increase, the main challenge faced is how to maintain user engagement in the long term. 

According to Kardan, the monetization model for these games currently focuses more on traffic rather than in-app purchases. However, after the launch of the Token Generation Event (TGE), this monetization model must change for Telegram games to survive.

For example, Notcoin has shown how Tap-to-Earn games with millions of users can launch large token airdrops and keep players engaged with their ecosystem. 

After launching in January, the Notcoin team conducted a $1 billion token airdrop last May by distributing 80 billion NOT tokens. The market value of the NOT token currently stands at $1.1 billion, demonstrating the success of this approach in attracting user attention and participation.

Telegram Games Hamster Kombat

Meanwhile, Hamster Kombat also faces similar challenges. The game has managed to attract significant interest online, claiming to have over 300 million users. 

However, it is still unclear what percentage of these users are bots, and the Hamster Kombat team plans to address this issue before their token launch.

According to Kardan, despite the technical challenges faced in planning this big airdrop, he is optimistic that Hamster Kombat has the opportunity to build a sustainable gaming ecosystem.  

Popularity of Telegram Games

One of the Telegram games that is starting to attract attention is Cat. This game is similar to Tamagotchi, with the concept of players having virtual pets that must be looked after. 

According to Kardan, Gatto has started to get a lot of users and good revenue. He also stated that in the next 6 months, more games like Gatto will be launched on TON and Telegram.

With these new games, Telegram has the potential to become one of the most interesting gaming platforms in the blockchain world. TON's fast-growing gaming ecosystem provides new hope and opens the door for millions of new users to join the world of Web3.
