Phantom Wallet Airdrop Denied by Developer: We Didn't Launch a Token

Bittime - Phantom Wallet, a popular cryptocurrency wallet, recently denied rumors circulating about the launch of a new token. This rumor emerged after the launch of new social features in the Phantom application. In a post on their X (formerly Twitter) account, Phantom confirmed that they have no plans to launch any tokens.

No Plans to Launch a Token

Phantom Wallet clearly wrote, “We have no plans to launch a token.” This statement comes after some X users speculated that the launch of social features in the Phantom app may be a sign that a token airdrop will be launched soon. However, Phantom dismissed the speculation, stating that the new social features have nothing to do with the token launch.

Phantom recently added some social features to their app. This feature allows users to create a profile, add friends, and choose the profile privacy level (public, private, or hidden). This feature is currently only available in the Phantom mobile app and not yet in the Chrome extension. Phantom also mentioned that support for Chrome extensions is coming soon.

Phantom Adds Support for Sui

In addition to responding to airdrop rumors, Phantom also announced in December 2024 that it would add support for the Layer 1 Sui blockchain. This makes Sui the fourth blockchain supported by Phantom, after Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana.

Jameel Khalfan, Head of Global Ecosystems at Sui Foundation, said, “Phantom Wallet is very selective in choosing the blockchains it supports, and we are proud to now be part of this group.”

Phantom hasn't announced an exact date for Sui integration, but they have stated that the feature is coming "soon." Previously, Phantom added support for Ethereum Layer 2 (Base) in November 2024.
