About Theta EdgeCloud
Theta EdgeCloud was inspired by Theta's collaboration with Google last year to create automated Video-to-Text. This is a response to the resource intensive requirements for AI use cases of Theta Ecosystem projects such as Lavita and FedML.
Theta EdgeCloud combines the advantages of Cloud and Edge architecture to address new AI use cases in video, media and entertainment.

In addition to EdgeCloud, this year Theta Network also plans to improve the functionality of the Theta Video API, launch more subchains and TNT20 tokens, and expand TDROP functionality on ThetaDrop and other partner platforms.

What are the details of Theta Network's roadmap? Here's the review!
Semester 1 2024
- EdgeCloud Launch Phase 1: This is the newest generation of Theta Edge Network. This initial stage will use nodes hosted by Theta Labs. These nodes will run video and image generation AI models, as well as video and other modeling tasks.
Later, this node will be launched for partners and the Theta community to operate. Elite Edge Node users will also have the option to run a new “Elite+ Booster” module to do compute work for EdgeCloud if they have staked 500,000 TFUEL.
- Theta Hackathon: The competition will be held in the second quarter of 2024. Participants can submit their work in the areas of Metachain, EdgeCloud and others.
- New Subchain Adoption Metrics and Statistics: Theta will launch new metrics and statistics to track the growth of Theta Metachain and other ecosystem projects.
- Support for New Ecosystem Projects: Theta will support the launch of new TNT20 subchains and tokens, as well as other ecosystem projects.
- Theta Video API Improvements: Several advanced features will be added, including a metrics dashboard and self-serving, studio-level NFT DRM support.
This allows any user to utilize the same NFT DRM tools used by Decrypt, MetaCannes, and World of Women for their events.
Semester 2 2024
- EdgeCloud Phase 2 Launch: This stage allows partners and end users to start running their own EdgeCloud nodes in their individual data centers or cloud infrastructure.
Additionally, users can prioritize certain types of jobs for processing and/or choose not to perform certain jobs on the network.
This stage is a preparation towards a fully decentralized EdgeCloud model where community-operated edge nodes can participate in a hybrid cloud architecture.
- Theta Video API Fully Decentralized: The Theta Video API will become more decentralized with further updates supporting standard NFT DRM encoding in a decentralized environment.
- Theta Web3 Theater Next Generation: This is a new video experience that natively integrates Theta NFT DRM. Theta Web3 Theater will launch on ThetaDrop and other partner platforms.
- Expand Use of TDROP to Partner Marketplaces: TDROP functionality will be extended to Theta partner platforms to increase usage of Theta NFTs across the ecosystem.

2025 and Beyond
Theta plans to continue pushing new applications in the Theta Ecosystem. One of the main focuses is the full rollout of EdgeCloud. Where, edge nodes operated by community members will work seamlessly and together with cloud-operated infrastructure.
An open marketplace will also be launched. This allows clients to submit work to EdgeCloud and determine the fee they are willing to pay nodes for completing that work in TFUEL or TNT20 tokens.
Node operators and clients will also benefit from a Developer API that allows them to submit or complete work programmatically.
Be aware, This roadmap may change as new use cases and products emerge. However, this is a big picture of what we can expect from Theta Network's development in the coming year.
The network will continue to evolve to meet new use cases with the help of the community running Edge Nodes, developing ecosystem projects, and building the future of the network.
