SEC vs Ripple Ends, XRP ETF Chance is Getting Bigger?

According to Nate Geraci, an ETF analyst, XRP ETF approval is only a matter of time. He mentioned that BlackRock, Fidelity, and other large institutions will likely get involved in an XRP ETF.

The reason is quite strong, namely the status of XRP which is one of the largest crypto assets based on market capitalization. With a valuation that has risen $144 billion, it is impossible for US ETF issuers to ignore the potential of these assets.

Although the SEC has been cautious about altcoin ETFs, Geraci believes the regulator will eventually soften.

SEC vs Ripple Case Hold XRP ETF

Since 2020, the SEC has accused Ripple of selling unregistered securities via the XRP token. This case is a major obstacle for an XRP ETF because regulators do not want to approve an asset that is still legally problematic.

However, in 2023, Judge Analyze Torres decided that Programmatic sales of XRP in secondary markets do not violate securities laws, but institutional sales are still considered illegal. Ripple was also subject to a fine of $125 million.

The dissatisfied SEC appealed, while Ripple fought back with a counterappeal and the legal debate continued. 

Finally, in early 2025, the SEC surprisingly withdrew its appeal, followed by Ripple which also withdrew its appeal a few days later. As a result, Ripple only has to pay a fine of $50 million, while the rest is returned.

With the end of the feud SEC vs Ripple, opportunity ETF XRP the greater it is. It is only a matter of time before major financial institutions such as BlackRock and Fidelity submit proposals for XRP-based ETFs.
