TON Foundation Launches Bitcoin Cross-chain Bridge

Bittime - TON Foundation has just announced the launch of a cross-chain bridge service called TON Teleport BTC. The presence of this bridge allows users to interact with various decentralized financial services (DeFi) on The Open Network (TON) network.

TON Teleport BTC operates in a decentralized, transparent and intermediary-free manner. Users can now easily move their Bitcoin (BTC) into the TON network. Instead, users can use it for various DEX (Decentralized Exchange), DeFi applications, and lending platforms.

TON Teleport BTC: Unlimited Technology in the TON Ecosystem

Anatoliy Makosov, TON technical lead, stated that this new infrastructure will ensure seamless technology within the TON ecosystem. According to him, all transactions will be supported by the TON blockchain validator and executed via smart contracts.

“Through TON Teleport, you can now move Bitcoin to TON and vice versa in a secure and decentralized manner. This technology operates without intermediaries and restrictions,” said Anatoliy Makosov.

Makosov also emphasized that storing and using Bitcoin on the TON network will be much cheaper and more convenient than on the Bitcoin network itself.

In addition, the TON Foundation guarantees transaction security by storing Bitcoin bridged to the TON network in the form of pegged BTC.

The popularity of the TON blockchain has seen a rapid rise this year, especially thanks to the presence of Telegram-based play-to-earn games operating on its network. The surge in popularity of the game also soared the value of TON's original token, Toncoin.

This month of July was reported to be a period of exponential growth for Toncoin. This is driven by the presence of mini-applications such as Hamster Kombat.
